Thoughts of spring evoke memories of breezy days, downy baby chickens and billowy white clouds against pristine blue skies. But, as with French soufflés, sometimes a little extra “puff” is needed in décor. The next two spring seasons will be such times.
Beginning in 2016, chiffon and Georgette fabrics will swirl into appliquéd blossoms on cushions, drapery panels and more as part of an incoming floral trend that will strengthen even more in spring and summer. Deeply-quilted nylon will be crafted into dimensional cushions and youthful poufs. For seasonal figures like bunnies, chicks and sheep, downy feathers and faux-fur plush become essential updates. Consumers will love these textures for Easter and spring!
Cotton bowls, still on the vine, are set to advance, creating lighter-than-air wreaths and floral arrangements. Also coming up to steal plant- and flower-lovers’ hearts for Valentine’s Day and other occasions: Rootless air plants, along with their pups. These amazingly light and portable sprouts can be temporarily placed anywhere from inside teacups to floral arrangements and terrariums. As an added bonus, they’re brilliantly colored when in bloom. Nothing says, “Take me home with you. I’m floating on air!” quite like these tropical American beauties. And air, after all, is what this trend will be all about!
